The College started in the present premises in a small cadjan shed near the Holy Cross Church. Although the school had been in existence as a private school in some other location since 1880, it had been registered in the year 1902.
During the past 100 years the College progressed rapidly and became the leading boys school in the District of Kalutara. We owe the success story to the people who were at the helm, directing the school in the right manner in good times as well as in bad times.
Reverend Fathers of the Arch Diocese of Colombo managed the College until the year 1973. Mr. M J Anthony Cooray, an old boy of the College, took over as the first lay Principal in the year 1973. On his retirement in 1978, the Management of the College was handed over to the Marist Brothers. Of these great heroes Reverend Fathers Leo, Herel, Robert, Breton, Croos, Chaulieu, Arthur, Pinto, Theodore and Reverend Brother Francis have gone to their eternal reward. We owe a deep debt of gratitude to them and also those who are living. They will remain lasting memorials in the minds of all Crusaders of Kalutara. |
